CCRC CONTRIBUTES $2550 TO THE VIRGINIA FARM BUREAU’S DEVELOPING

FARMER INITIATIVES.

Culpeper, VA, August 23, 2024 —On Thursday, August 22, the Culpeper County Republican Committee
membership voted to contribute $2550 to the Virginia Farm Bureau’s Young Farmer programs. “This gift has
been a long time coming,” said CCRC Chair Larry Green. “The money was raised for a Young Republican Club
about a year ago, but the effort was never fulfilled. We wanted to use the money for a youth program of some
kind, and this just seemed like a logical step.”
Mr. Green stated that the Committee has a great deal of support from the local farming community and that
this was a great way to give back. “Our community will always rely on agriculture for strength in its economy
and culture as well as for our quality of life. We need to do everything we can to make it sustainable.”
With the average age of Virginia farmers creeping up from 58 to 59 years old, farming, especially family farms
are at risk of disappearing as their stewards age. The Virginia Farm Bureau Young Farmer Programs want to
make a difference in Virginia’s largest industry and local communities. Leadership skills are built through
personal and professional development opportunities in an atmosphere that is fun and friendly. County-level
Young Farmers committee members and groups work on local issues, assisting county Farm Bureau boards
with agricultural education and outreach to the public and participating in various community activities.
“Culpeper County Republicans are passionate about our community and want to set ourselves apart by
thinking bigger than the political process,” Mr. Green added. “We want to be neighborly and put our money
where our mouth is. Actions speak louder than words.”
The Culpeper Republican Committee meets the fourth Thursday of the month at the Reformation Lutheran
Church at 601 Madison Rd in Culpeper. The Committee’s headquarters are located 402 S. Main St in
Culpeper.
